Unlike the Silesian background of the Barossa and Clare Valley, McLaren Vale was almost exclusively due to the effort of Englishmen. There is a confidence in McLaren Vale's glossily seductive reds, with old-vine Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon and then Grenache clear varietal strengths.
